6. Handling of Input in AI Features
The Service includes features in which AI processes content entered by customers, including AI chat. The provisions in this section concerning transmission to external AI providers apply only to AI included in the Pro plan and AI used with Coins. Input is not transmitted to an external AI provider when using BASIC AI included in the Basic plan or Pro plan. ăProcessing methodsăDepending on the plan and selected AI model, entered content is processed by one of the following two methods. ⢠(A) Processing by transmission to an external AI provider: Entered content is transmitted to an API provided by one of the following four U.S. providers: OpenAI OpCo, LLC, Anthropic, PBC, Google LLC, or SpaceXAI LLC (xAI). This method applies to AI included in the Pro plan and AI models used with Coins, including when a Coin-based AI model is used by a user who otherwise uses the Service free of charge. ⢠(B) Processing on our servers: Content is processed by AI models that we operate on rented servers in the United States and France. Under this method, entered content is not transmitted to an external AI provider. BASIC AI included in the Basic plan and Pro plan uses this method. ăContent transmittedăUnder method (A), only content entered by the customer, including text and images, and instructions necessary for the feature to operate are transmitted. We do not add registered information such as names or email addresses. However, if entered text or images themselves contain personal information, that information is also transmitted. ăStorage by usăFor AI features, we retain on our servers only the following: (1) records such as usage date and time, AI model, approximate character count, and Coins consumed; and (2) up to the first 50 characters of a question entered in AI chat, which are retained in server logs for a limited period to investigate malfunctions and which we endeavor to delete when no longer needed for investigation. Other entered content and AI responses are not stored on our servers. AI chat history is stored on the customerâs device in the browser and is not held by us. ăUse for AI trainingăThe API terms of the four providers under method (A) state that submitted input and generated results are not used to train their AI models unless we permit such use. We do not grant that permission. ăStorage by providersăThe four providers under method (A) may retain transmitted content for a limited period to monitor improper use and for similar purposes. According to information published by the providers and reviewed by us on October 7, 2026, OpenAI retains it for up to 30 days; Anthropic for no more than 30 days, except content flagged as potentially violating its usage policy, which may be retained for up to two years; Google for 55 days; and xAI for 30 days. Information may be retained longer where required by law or in similar circumstances. Provider terms may change. ăNews searchăTo answer questions about news in AI chat, search terms generated from the question may be transmitted to Google LLCâs news search service in the United States to retrieve article headlines. ăVoice inputăVoice input uses the browserâs speech-recognition feature. Voice may be converted to text by a service operated by the browser provider, such as Google or Apple. We do not receive the audio itself. ăInformation that must not be enteredăDo not enter the following information into AI features: ⢠Information that can identify you or another person, such as a name, address, telephone number, or email address ⢠Information requiring special care, such as medical history, health condition, or beliefs ⢠Information that must not become known to others, such as passwords, credit card numbers, or business secrets When a feature accepts images, do not enter images in which a person can be identified or in which any of the information above appears. ăConsent to transmission outside JapanăUnder method (A) and the news-search function described above, entered content is transmitted to providers outside Japan. Because the recipients are located in a foreign country, we obtain customersâ consent even where the transfer constitutes outsourcing. ⢠Destination country: United States of America ⢠U.S. legal system: See ăHandling outside Japană in section 3. ⢠News search (Google LLC): Only search terms generated from the question are transmitted. Google LLC handles them under its Privacy Policy. Items (1) through (4) below concern the four providers under method (A). ⢠Measures taken by the four providers under method (A): Based on the providersâ published API and data-processing terms, we confirmed the following measures: (1) transmitted content is handled only to the extent necessary to generate AI responses, monitor improper use, and perform similar functions; (2) content is not used for AI training unless we permit it; (3) security measures are implemented; and (4) content is deleted according to the periods described under ăStorage by providersă above. Please review each providerâs published Privacy Policy for details. Consent is obtained in the consent field on the payment screen when applying for the Pro plan, including its news-search function, and when purchasing Coins for Coin-based AI. If you do not consent, you cannot apply for the Pro plan or purchase Coins. Features that do not transmit input to an external AI provider, including BASIC AI, remain available.
